Admissions Requirements

Christian Experience: WLI invites applications from those persons committed to Christ and His Kingdom as evidenced by living a clean, committed, moral life. This commitment should be joined with recognition of the Bible as the authoritative, uniquely inspired and inerrant Word of God.

Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
Application: Submit the completed application with the application fee and assessment fee.
Personal Recommendation: Two "Memorandum of Recommendations" must be completed and turned into the WLI office before assessment for placement can begin.

Admission Notification

Students are notified of their placement within 4 weeks after all application materials have been received in the WLI office. Application materials include completed application, Memorandums of Recommendation, application and assessment fees. Official acceptance cannot be granted until all required information is received. The Admissions Committee (while waiting for required information) may grant conditional acceptance and placement.

Assessment

Students should complete the Application as fully as possible for every consideration in placement. WLI policy is to allow up to 50% credit for ministry and life experience for advanced placement purposes. Some education (Bible school for example) and life experience (especially that which includes ministry experience, whether staff or volunteer) will be more relevant to placement than secular education or experience. The student should understand that 50% is the maximum consideration given for advanced placement.

Appeal

If the student feels an accurate assessment and placement was not given, the student may write a letter and detail the reasons he/she feels the assessment and placement is not accurate. Upon review by the Admissions Committee a final determination will be made. The decision of the Admissions Committee will be final.

Registration Schedule

Students may register for Fast Tracks or Local Church Seminars by completing appropriate registration forms at the time of the event.

Students may also request WLI to grant them credit for a non-WLI seminar or conference. To do this the student should make the request to WLI by phone or in writing (including email), and include information about the event including: The host of the the event with contact information, a list of the speakers, content, duration, subject, books of interest the student intends to read, and cost. Determination for approval of the event for the student’s credit will be made within 1 week of the request. An event must be at least 12 - 15 contact hours in length for the student to obtain 4 training units. If it is longer or shorter the amount of TU's given will be accordingly. The student will have the same 90 day window to complete all book and paperwork as they would with a WLI event.

Student Name Tags

Each student will be expected to wear a name tag during all WLI events. This helps everyone get to know each other and provides a means by which WLI faculty and staff can readily identify registered students.

Student Status

Students may register for as few or as many WLI courses as they desire. During a Fast Track, which is a 1 or 2 week time frame with many courses offered back to back, there are no minimum required courses. A student may take one or all courses, depending on the student’s budget and time availability.

Courses

A WLI courses consists of 14-15 contact hours will be worth 4 TU's plus 2 TU's for optional reading assignments. Some choose not to complete any reading, other like to read more then 2 normal sized books.
Typically a course can be completed in 2 to 2 1/2 days. To receive 6 TUs credit for a  course a student must complete at least 500 pages of reading from the provided book list, complete a book report on each book read, and complete a self study report detailing the impact and impartation of the course on the student’s life. The student has 90 days from the end of the course to have all material in to the WLI office.

Four Plus Two TUs

A student may elect to receive credit for only 4 TUs by completing just the self study report after attending the course, and not doing the reading and book reports. The tuition charged will be 80% of the full tuition. The student is required to request either the 4 TU rate or 6 TU rate at the time of course registration. A student who has elected to register at the 4 TU rate may upgrade their standing and receive the 2 additional TUs by sending WLI the difference in tuition and the required book reports. A student who has registered at the 6 TU rate but has decided to do only the self-study report will receive credit towards a future class for tuition paid at the 6 TU rate.

Fast Tracks and Local Church Seminars

A Fast Track will usually consist of a 2 week block of time with 5 courses set back to back. Because each course earns 6 TUs, a Fast Track can be completed for 30 TUs. Some Fast Tracks will be 3 courses in a week.

A Local Church Seminar will typically consist of 1 course, or 6 TUs. Any combination of classes may be offered with each course earning 6 TUs.
